The Quadtec represents a revolutionary innovation in digital watch making. Created by award-winning watch designer Fredi Brodmann and inventor Berj Terzian, the Quadtec is shifting the way people tell time. Usually, we concern ourselves with how much time has passed, but sometimes it is more productive to look at how much time is left. It's an optimistic, glass-half-full way of looking at time.

In the Quadtec's Elapsed Forward mode, time is displayed as minutes past the current hour for the first two quarter-hours, then, for the final two quarters, the display shifts to the left side of the watch and the hour position shows the upcoming hour. More simply, the Quadtec's Elapsed Forward mode tells time the same way we do. You never hear someone say, "It's 45-minutes past five." Rather, we either say "quarter-after five", or "quarter-'till five".

In the Quadtec's Elapsed Segmented sequence, the time always displays minutes past the current hour, but the minutes rotate around the watch face in quadrants. In this way, you can have both a traditional digital read-out and still retain the unique visual benefits of the Quadtec, allowing you to tell time at a glance.

Meanwhile, the Elapsed Unified mode operates in a more traditional manner, with a stationary digital read-out that displays minutes past the current hour.

Just as the Quadtec's functional attributes reflect the way we think about time, this amazing timepiece's physical attributes reflect what Brodmann calls the "monitor-driven" society in which we live. "We believe that it's the ideal synthesis between telling time and also having a contemporary-looking object on your wrist which reflects the aesthetic philosophy of the cell phones and the monitors and television sets [all] around us," Brodmann says.
