This was truly a masterpiece and swept the awards repeatedly until 1900 when it was excluded from competitions worldwide.

Girard-Perregaux has since accumulated quite a few patents for original watch making concepts that have fascinated the world of horology. In 1965 they produced the Gyromatic HF, a mechanical movement with a record breaking frequency of 36,000 beats per hour and in 1970 Girard-Perregaux manufactured the first quartz movement boasting 32,768 vibrations  per hour, remaining the industry standard today.
