Citizen Watches

Citizen was originally a Swiss-Japanese collaboration that took over the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1930. Using the designs of Swiss watchmaker Rodolphe Schmid, the company quickly expanded its borders beyond Japan and Switzerland. By the end of World War 2, Citizen had developed into an international watch manufacturer, with products in dozens of countries around the world.

The Citizen brand has always been closely associated with invention and the latest technological upgrades. The company became particularly well-known after inventing the world’s first multi-band atomic watch in 1993. This watch was capable of telling the time with a degree of accuracy never seen before — an error rate of just one second over a period of more than 1,000 years.

In the decades since, Citizen has developed dozens of highly accurate models with innovative timekeeping mechanics. Citizen is also credited with producing the first full-waterproof dive watch. Perhaps most famously, Citizen developed various models of affordable, solar-powered watches for consumers who don’t want to worry about replacing their batteries.

Citizen Watch Collections

If you are looking for optimal functionality and features, the Blue Angels and Primo collections are great choices. Named after the famous Navy flight team, Blue Angels watches are all about accuracy. Similarly, the Primo collection is a reflection of military precision and efficacy. These watches come in various styles, with Blue Angels watches incorporating the color blue in the frames or bands. Both collections also come with world time in 24 cities, radio controls, tachymeters, calendars, and power reserve indicators.

The Citizen brand is very well-known for its Eco-Drive watches. Though not a single collection by itself, Eco-Drive is an important element that is incorporated into various models. If a Citizen watch has the Eco-Drive logo, this means that its battery is powered by light. It’s important to note that Eco-Drive watches don’t just run on sunlight, either. Any kind of light — artificial or otherwise — can keep your watch running for decades. Some of the most popular collections that make use of the Eco-Drive feature include Chandler, Nighthawk, Promaster, Corso, and Stiletto.
