Movado’s history began in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1881 under the name LAI Ditescheim & Freres SA, founded by Léopold Achille Isidore Ditesheim. The name Movado, which means “Always in motion” in Esperanto, was adopted in 1905. Movado’s watches are truly always in motion.

Movado is most famous for its Museum watch, designed in 1947 by American designer Nathan George Horwitt. The original watch is very striking, with a solid black dial and no number hands save for one gold dot at 12 which represents the sun at high noon.
